Manuscripts Online

A recent set of links to a bunch of online 14thC manuscripts, many of which I'd like to save pics from for future use. If anyone can do up some kind of bot to save 'em one by one, I'd be grateful! (and I'll add 'em to the collection too in that instance).

Cheers,
Hugh

*** EDIT ***

Romance of the Rose

We should have a manuscripts links section eventually too with name, when authored, where etc.

More to follow as I find good ones with pics. There looks to be a few copies of Romance of the Rose online - gonna have a look at them later today to see what images they contain.

This one is titled: Durand de Mende, Le rational des divins offices de l'église
Place of origin, date: France; c. 1380

http://www2.kb.nl/vh-cgi/vhfullref.pl?L ... %2f1725368

Title: Livy, Histoire Romaine
Place of origin, date: Paris; c. 1380-1390

Next question is - given these links (and other cool links on this site to manuscripts): how do you get to high resolution copies of each picture???!!! It's painful trying to see detail in the tiny thumbnail pics given.

I had a quick look at a tool called HTTrack. Didn't get it to work for me yet though. You should give that a shot. Great links!

Go to http://mandragore.bnf.fr/jsp/rechercheExperte.jsp

and enter one of the following into the line marked "Cote":

Français 12399
Nouvelle acquisition française 5243

First one is Book of Modus and Ratio, Paris 1379
Second is Guiron le Courtois, Italy, 1370-1380

Virtual Manuscript Library of Switzerland: http://www.e-codices.unifr.ch/en

The only manuscript in this collection I can find that is relevant to us is this one:

http://www.e-codices.unifr.ch/en/list/one/vad/0342
Shelfmark: VadSlg Ms. 342
Location: St. Gallen
Library / Collection: Kantonsbibliothek, Vadianische Sammlung
Manuscript title: Vaticinia de pontificibus (Prophecies about the Papacy)
Caption: Parchment · 9 ff. · 30 x 21 cm · Originated in a German speaking region, possibly Bohemia · about 1360/1370
Language: Latin, French

Another interesting one, though the dating on this is vague:
